Cheers to the Weekend!

Let's make a cocktail

This week was fulfilling and fun. The first half was all about work. It actually came as a bit of a shock to me that I've "owned" a business for a whole year. As I make plans for the next year, I feel a little more comfortable in my knowledge of what it really takes to make self-employment work. Some days I do it better than others, but here's to more of the "better" days.

The second half of this week has been about fun. Some friends from Pittsburgh (Rob's hometown) came down for the fourth and are staying through the weekend. They're our first overnight guests and the idea of "playing Martha" all weekend has me beyond giddy. We're talking fresh flowers everywhere and full breakfast spreads. Here's to actually having a reason to make coffee.

This week was also full of invigorating morning walks with the pup. Being up and outdoors that early just revs me up for the day. It's quickly becoming my favorite morning ritual. Here's to becoming more comfortable as dog parents.

I'll be enjoying this dangerously pretty pink cocktail this weekend, what will you be sipping on.

Prickly Pear Margarita (makes one drink)

2.5 ounces tequilla
1.5 ounces Sioux City Prickly Pear Soda (or a personal favorite fruity soda)
Juice from 1/2 lime
Lime wedge for garnish

In a glass, drop some ice. Pour the tequila, soda and lime juice over the ice in that order. Garnish with lime wedge and enjoy!

*I purchased the soda I used in this recipe at this awesome little Frederick shop, The North Market Pop Shop. The recipe was actually created for my business newsletter (I like to include a recipe each month) but I really liked it and figured you all might like it too.
