One Month In

flowers and place settings

We have been happily married for one whole month. Well ... one month and five days as of this morning, but this past Monday marked one whole month. I felt the urge to at least mark the occasion by actually setting the table for dinner. Luckily the hubby had picked up some gorgeous flowers a few days before and all I had to do was add some of the beautiful & domestic goodies we had received as wedding gifts. And in case you were wondering, yes I really call him hubby and he calls me wifey and I love it ;-).

new place settings

The gorgeous china and adorable place mats are from that magical, walk in and never want to leave, wish your house looked like this store, Relish, located at 43 E Patrick Street in downtown Frederick. I'm sure I've waxed poetically about this shop before but just in case, I profusely encourage you to come visit and let me introduce you. The gold plated flatware is from West Elm and the champagne flutes are from Crate and Barrel.

simple shrimp stir fry & china

The meal was nothing fancy, a "kitchen-sink" stir-fry if you will. It turned out better than I thought it would though and was clearly elevated by it's setting. We lingered over the table for the rest of the evening, eventually pulling out some leftover 4th of July dessert.

Joan's pretzel salad

Grandma's Pretzel Salad, a wonderful mix of salty and sweet. It's one of those desserts that's just good for your soul because it's your grandmother recipe and/or it always makes an appearance at the family Christmas Eve celebration.

We enjoyed some extra wine and mulled over plans for long weekends. It was lovely. With our schedules, dinners like this aren't always possible, so it was nice that a night we were both home early coincided with this mini-milestone.
